As Sutton’s interior remodeling business continues to grow, we are looking for experienced painters and drywall professionals — both individuals and established crews — who take pride in quality craftsmanship and professional service.

Position Overview

Sutton’s is seeking experienced Painters and Drywall Installers, including established crews/trade partners, for residential remodeling projects throughout Springfield and Central Illinois.

We are interested in experienced individuals as well as established trade partners/subcontractor crews interested in developing an ongoing working relationship with Sutton’s.

Our customers are making a significant investment in their homes. Whether the project involves hanging and finishing drywall, repairing existing surfaces or completing the final paint work, we expect the finished product to reflect the quality and attention to detail associated with the Sutton’s name.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional interior and exterior painting as required by individual projects.

• Prepare surfaces properly, including cleaning, sanding, patching, caulking, priming and other necessary preparation.

• Hang, finish and repair drywall to professional residential remodeling standards.

• Tape, mud, sand and finish drywall to produce smooth, paint-ready surfaces.

• Match existing textures and finishes when performing remodeling or repair work.

• Protect flooring, furniture, cabinetry, fixtures and other areas of the homeowner's property throughout the project.

• Maintain clean, organized and safe work areas.

• Properly handle and maintain tools, materials and equipment.

• Work efficiently to meet project schedules without sacrificing workmanship.

• Communicate professionally with homeowners, project managers and other Sutton’s team members.

• Complete thorough jobsite cleanup and help ensure the finished project meets Sutton’s standards and the homeowner's expectations.

Demonstrated, verifiable experience in professional residential painting, drywall installation and finishing, or both. Candidates do not necessarily need to perform both trades; experienced painting specialists, drywall specialists and crews specializing in either area are encouraged to apply.

Individual Professionals:

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to Sutton’s and/or assigned job sites.

• Appropriate professional tools and equipment for the work being performed.

• Ability to work independently or as part of a remodeling team.

• Dependable attendance and ability to consistently meet project schedules.

• Strong attention to detail and finish quality.

• Willingness to follow Sutton’s safety, workmanship and customer-service standards.

Established Crews / Trade Partners:
Sutton’s welcomes established painting and drywall crews interested in an ongoing trade-partner relationship. Trade partners must:

• Maintain all licenses, registrations and insurance coverage required to perform their work.

• Provide current certificates of insurance and other required documentation before beginning work.

• Maintain appropriate general liability and workers' compensation coverage as required.

• Supply the vehicles, tools and equipment necessary to complete assigned projects.

• Provide experienced and dependable crew members capable of meeting Sutton’s workmanship, safety and customer-service standards.

Background Screening:
Sutton’s requires background screening as part of its hiring and trade-partner qualification process. Candidates and trade partners who successfully advance through the interview and qualification process will be required to complete and satisfactorily meet Sutton’s background-screening requirements before employment or approval to perform work on behalf of Sutton’s. Any screening will be conducted in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely lift and handle drywall, paint, tools and related materials as required by the work.

• Ability to climb and work from ladders and appropriate work platforms.

• Ability to bend, kneel, reach, stand and perform physically demanding remodeling work throughout the workday.

• Ability to safely work in occupied residential environments.

• Ability to follow all applicable jobsite and workplace safety requirements.
